Strategic Planning and Work Delegation
As discussed this week, you can take over the oversight of the following themes of work and the staff working under that area
- IT and Instrumentation
- Admin / HR / Legal / Office Management
- Finance
- Research
- Communication (SL and MV)
- Advocacy and Social Services
- Publications
- Training and Education
- Strategic Planning
Work Delegation
Given the focus on the SLAAS, AGU submissions and the BHC proposal, many things did not get done. This included the planned delegation of responsibilities for
IT, Research and Admin and cognate areas.
Work prioritizing and monitoring is a problem where things are not improving
- and things are falling through the cracks. Some folks are not getting responses to queries.
Work Reporting
The weekly and monthly work reporting are critical for this week and month - for most of you the supervision shall change and we want to transition properly. So please take extra effort to finish up the weekly and monthly reports.
I have asked the Admin folks to send a Template as soon as possible as that shall help focus - awaiting.
This need not hold you back.
We should also get started with our longer-term review for which we shall share the template.
Work Reporting and Supervision and Delegation
About 3 months ago, we had to deal with a transition where we had the departure of 5 folks who left and 5 who came in.
We have managed that transition so that folks are better settled. We also had to learn again how to work from home again. Now, we have not done this as well as we could. But this has taken a lot of effort and neglect of some work in areas such as Publication, Advocacy, Work Internationally in New York and Maldives.
This has also led to the neglect of the focus on Publication of Research Content, Outreach and Grant Related work and such and work in New York.
I do need to get back to some of this work. So, this week, we shall try to figure out how to delegate areas of work to Rimza, Tuan and Ashara on Admin, IT and Research and related areas.
FS shall coordinate some of the cross-cutting areas. I shall still be available for technical consultations for all the areas - I shall also take this week to properly handover and we shall have discussions after Wed on how to do this.
Our work on themes of Communication, Publishing, Advocacy, Training and Education and Strategic Management Has to be thought through as there is some cross-cutting work and I may have to help with some of this in the coming months.
We have to get the information needed for the teams - so that they can come up with the plans/targets for December. We need to get the following collaboration boards up to specs.
Admin + Finance - Admin, Finance, Legal, HR, Strategic Management
Research + Data Acquisition - Research Papers, Science Conferences + Data Acquisition + MV Data + MV papers
IT, Data Management and Communication - IT, FC boards on Websites, Data Management, Communication + MV Communication,
Anyway the TB for OCW and Work Reporting has to be improved.
We need to update the following Themes and Trello Boards which may be cross-cutting as well. Publication, Training and Education, Advocacy , Digana Office ,Akurana Office Electrical and Electronic Hardware
Note, Data and Communication are cross-cutting as well - but for now we can associate these with Research and IT as outline. Lets discuss this further on Wednesday.
Our Knowledge Management - Via OSF, Blogs and Internal Page - NB contents have to be Brought up to standards.
